Mumbai Meteors’ outside hitter Anu James starred in his side’s 5-0 (15-14, 15-6, 15-11, 15-12, 15-9) win over Chennai Blitz in match 7 of the RuPay Prime Volleyball League Powered by A23 Season 2 with a whopping 14 points to be rightly named as the RuPay Player of the Match.

The 26-year-old, along with his teammate Brandon Greenway was tasked to take the responsibility of countering Chennai Blitz’s blocking. Although James made a few errors, the Meteors’ captain Karthik A made sure he had the situation under control by taking charge in the middle.

By the end of the first set, James had tallied three points, with each of them coming in the attack. As the game progressed, the 26-year-old grew in confidence, as he made some unbelievable serves.

The tactic worked wonders as this approach kept Chennai’s outside hitters Renato Mendes and Kevin Moyo busy throughout the game.

Anu James’ statistics towards the end read 14 points; 13 of which came while attacking and the other was gathered from the launch. Interestingly enough, James had an efficiency of 57.89 per cent in the attack, having made just two errors.

Out of 13 services, he made three errors while tallying a solitary point. The 26-year-old made up for the errors as he was at the end of a reception on nine occasions while coming out successfully on five.

By the end, Anu James not only topped the scoring charts for his team, but also ended the match as the top marksman across both teams.
