Kolkata Thunderbolts’ outside hitter Rahul K delivered a performance of a lifetime as he was named the RuPay Player of the Match following his side’s 4-1 (15-9, 15-11, 15-14, 15-11, 12-15) win over Kochi Blue Spikers in match 10 of the RuPay Prime Volleyball League Powered by A23 Season 2.

Rahul, 24, skimmed past the Kochi defence like a bullet, having finished his night with a tally of 17 points. Such was his dominance that only Shubham Chaudhary of Kochi Blue Spikers came close (13 points) to matching his figures.

The most defining moment of the match came from the 24-year-old himself. During the fourth set, with the scoreline reading 5-3, Rahul hit a wonderful spike to make it 6-3 and what happened next has never taken place in the history of the competition.

Rahul first delivered a thumping Super Serve to up the advantage. It must be noted that a Super Serve is called when a team aces a service and the ball lands on the opponent's court without anyone touching it. Furthermore, the team with the Super Serve is awarded two points as compared to one point from the ace.

Coming back to the game, with the score now heavily in favour of Kolkata, Rahul delivered his second consecutive Super Serve, hence becoming the only player in the history of the competition to do so.

Interestingly enough, the 24-year-old was equally efficient in blocking as he was in the attack. Out of a total of six blocking attempts he made just one error while gathering five points, taking his blocking efficiency to 66.67 percent.

The 24-year-old gave a little scare to Kolkata supporters towards the end after being taken out due to an injury problem, but the outside hitter looked fine during the post-match presentation.
