Kolkata Thunderbolts registered their second win of the RuPay Prime Volleyball League Powered by A23 Season 2 at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday, February 8. This time, beating a young Hyderabad Black Hawks side 4-1 (15-13, 15-7, 15-9, 15-12, 8-15).

Powered by a thunderous Vinit Kumar performance, the Thunderbolts showed why they are considered to be the title favourites this season as well.

Vinit, who was rightly adjudged as the RuPay Player of the Match, let his performance do all the talking. Considered to be one of India’s best universals, the lanky athlete roamed all around the court as if he was virtually controlling every move.

Be it serving monstrous aces, hitting match-winning spikes, blocking like a shield or setting up teammates, the athlete did it all to an extent that he finished with a tally of an impressive 15 points. In fact, he was one of the only four players who finished with double figures alongside teammates Ashwal Rai, Rahul K and the Black Hawks’ captain Guru Prasanth.

Impressively enough, Vinit had an efficiency of 66.67 per cent in the attack, having tallied 14 of his 15 points from there. On top of everything, he made just two errors in attack and was flawless from his serves.

While he could only accumulate a solitary point from the launch, the fact that he attempted seven services and made no errors deserved an ovation. Looking at his performance, it comes as no surprise that he is currently the top scorer in the competition.

Meanwhile, riding on his power-packed performance, Kolkata Thunderbolts sailed through a young Hyderabad Black Hawks side comfortably. Up next for the reigning champions lies a firm test against Kochi Blue Spikes on Sunday, February 12.
