Bengaluru Torpedoes bid farewell to the home leg of the RuPay Prime Volleyball League Powered by A23 Season 2 with an impressive 4-1 (15-10, 12-15, 15-13, 15-9, 15-9) win against Mumbai Meteors at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium on Sunday, February 12.

Guided by Tsvetelin Tsvetanov’s powerpacked performance, Bengaluru Torpedoes were dominant right from the beginning. Although they did lose the second set, Tsvetanov and co. made sure they have enough fuel in the tank to exploit Mumbai’s frailties.

A game dominated by outside hitters had several talking points and here we look at three moments that defined the fixture.

Anything you can do, we can do better

After having lost each of their last two matches, Bengaluru Torpedoes got their first win of the home leg. It’s not to say that the team put on a perfect display. There were some hiccups along the way but thanks to Mumbai Meteors’ 13 errors, Bengaluru gave their fans something to remember.

As far as Mumbai Meteors are concerned, the team did try to put up a fight, managing tough blocks and hitting regular spikes, but as it seems Bengaluru were always a step ahead. It seemed like everything they touched resulted in a point.

Tsvetelin Tsvetanov key to Bengaluru’s glory

Bengaluru Torpedoes’ Tsvetelin Tsvetanov was arguably the most effective player on the night. The lanky Bulgarian fired pinpoint spikes throughout the game as he ended up accumulating 15 attack points, taking his tally to 17 points from the match.

Tsvetanov’s influence grew especially towards the final sets when his services and spikes, for that matter, were simply too hot to handle for Mumbai.

Mumbai Meteors looked like a shadow of their previous selves

For a team that registered a thumping 5-0 win in their previous outing, a 1-4 defeat against a side that occupied the bottom spot in the points table is a disastrous outcome.

The team managed a mere three blocks during the course of the match which goes on to show that while their attacking unit was pretty much up to the mark, their defense needs serious work.
