Bengaluru Torpedoes and Ahmedabad Defenders go head-to-head for the second time in the RuPay Prime Volleyball League Powered by A23 Season 2 on Sunday, March 5, although this time, with an eye to get their hands on the ultimate prize.

The two teams have delivered contrary performances this season. To begin with, Ahmedabad Defenders were assured of a place in the playoffs after going on a five-game winning streak. Bengaluru Torpedoes, on the other hand, had to wait to see how the Kochi Blue Spikers vs Mumbai Meteors game panned out.

If Mumbai had defeated Kochi in straight sets, the Torpedoes wouldn’t have been in the playoffs in the first place. But judging by their impressive showings in their respective semi-finals, it’s safe to say that tonight’s game is going to be a banger.

On that note, let’s take a look at three key battles that are expected to play a big role during the game.

Ibin Jose vs Angamuthu Ramaswamy

Ahmedabad Defenders somehow managed to minimize the threat of Bengaluru Torpedoes’ Ibin Jose the last time these two sides crossed paths. The 25-year-old was limited to just six individual points while his positional rival, Angamuthu Ramaswamy of Ahmedabad tallied eight.

Now, Ramaswamy’s return might seem substandard at its very best, but the fact remains that the Ahmedabad universal was crucial for his team across various positions; be it in attack, in defence or while setting up his teammates for spikes.

So tonight, the battle of the two universals will be the one to keep a keen eye on.

Tsvetelin Tsvetanov vs Danial Moatazedi

Bengaluru Torpedoes attacker Tsvetelin Tsvetanov was simply a class apart against Ahmedabad Defenders last time out. The 25-year-old Bulgarian tallied an impressive 17 points on the night and was the only player to reach the double figure.

Tsvetanov’s influence may seem to have diminished over the last few matches but the fact remains that he still poses a great threat to Ahmedabad’s defence.

Interestingly, this is where Danial Moatazedi’s presence will come in handy for his team. The towering Iranian blocker has been instrumental to his team’s success this season and if Ahmedabad are to curtail Tsvetanov’s supremacy, Moatazedi should be on the top of his game.

Srajan Shetty vs LM Manoj

Srajan Shetty’s performances for Bengaluru have largely gone under the radar this season. The 20-year-old has accrued 13 blocking points this season which is just three less than Ahmedabad’s LM Manoj.

During his previous outing against the Defenders, Shetty returned with six points while Manoj had tallied eight. Judging by the look of things, it’s safe to assume that the two are once again going to be instrumental in the defence for their respective teams.
