Hailing from a modest background, this talented young athlete has risen through the ranks, capturing the hearts of fans and earning recognition as one of India's most promising volleyball players.

A Humble Beginning:

Hailing from a humble background Guru Prasanth’s rise to fame has been quite extraordinary. Born in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, Guru Prasanth's love for sports, especially volleyball, developed at a young age. Under his father's influence, Guru developed an affinity towards volleyball and eventually pursued the sport. With determination and limited resources, he honed his skills on dusty courts, catching the attention of local coaches and setting him on the path to success.

A Talent Unveiled:

Guru's exceptional talent gained recognition at the national level. Notable performances in local tournaments and school competitions earned him accolades and opportunities. Having been selected for the state junior volleyball team at 16, he quickly emerged as a formidable player with impressive athleticism, powerful spikes, and a passion to learn and improve.

Nurturing Talent:

Under the mentorship of experienced coaches like Krishna Chakkaravarthy at SDAT Trichy and S Dakshinamoorthy at SRM University, Guru's talent flourished. Playing alongside seasoned players like Naveen Raja Jacob and Mohan Ukkrapandian provided invaluable experience, motivating him to work harder on his technique. His superlative performance in the Youth National Championship was a testament to the fact that he was ready to take his game to the next level.

The National Call:

His dedication and commitment towards the sport paid off when he received the call to represent India in the Asian Championship 2018 in Bahrain. It was a dream come true moment for the youngster. But it was just the beginning. The bigger things were yet to come, and Guru was ready to take every challenge in his stride to achieve his dreams.

Hyderabad’s Hero:

Picked up by the Hyderabad Black Hawks in Season 1 of the RuPay Prime Volleyball League Powered by A23, Guru showcased his skills scoring 69 points with an attack success rate of 56.1% which eventually fetched him the Emerging Player of the Season award. Following his impressive show, Guru Prasanth was retained by the Hyderabad side for Season 2 and was handed the responsibilities of leading the side. With the armband on, he shattered expectations, becoming the first player to score over 100 points in a single season. He finished the season with 114 points that also saw him earning the title of MVP.

A Future Full of Promise:

As Guru Prasanth continues to make waves on the national and international stages, this rising star's future looks exceptionally bright. He has been selected for the Asian Games 2023 National Camp and will don the National team’s jersey to face off against Asia’s best later this year.
