Bengaluru Torpedoes’ Tsvetelin Tsvetanov was rightly adjudged as the RuPay Player of the Match after his team comfortably beat Mumbai Meteors 4-1 (15-10, 12-15, 15-13, 15-9, 15-9) in match 9 of the RuPay Prime Volleyball League Powered by A23 Season 2 at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium on Sunday, February 12.
Tsvetanov, 25, was simply unplayable for Mumbai Meteors as he ended his night with 17 points, the most by any player across both teams. In fact, the only player who came close to his tally was Mumbai’s Hardeep Singh (14 points).
Bengaluru’s darling Bulgarian, Tsvetanov’s bifurcation read an impressive 15 points in attack alone while the rest of the points were gathered from the launch.
Tsvetanov was at the forefront right from the beginning. The 25-year-old scored his first point early on in the first set as his side cruised to a 5-3 lead. Towards the third set, Tsvetanov was firing on all cylinders, troubling Mumbai’s puny defense at regular intervals.
As it turns out, Tsvetanov had an efficiency of 44.44 per cent as he made just three errors in attack. Surprisingly enough, Bengaluru’s outside hitter wasn’t clinical enough while defending as he made a whopping four errors out of four attempted blocks.
In service though, the Bulgarian was so fierce that Mumbai had no answers to his launches. In all fairness while Mujeeb MC’s return of 10 points is commendable, one cannot argue over the fact that if not for Tsvetanov the scoreline would have been very different.
