Angamuthu Ramaswamy put on a scintillating display during Ahmedabad Defenders’ 4-1 (14-15, 15-12, 15-14, 15-13, 15-14) win over Mumbai Meteors in Match 14 of the RuPay Prime Volleyball League Powered by A23 Season 2 to be named the RuPay Player of the Match.

Angamuthu, 28, was simply unplayable for Mumbai Meteors as he finished his night with a tally of 22 points. Such was his dominance that his closest competitor was his own teammate Nandagopal Subramaniyam, who had 14 points to his name.

The difference in quality between Angamuthu’s brilliance and Mumbai’s attack was such that only Shameemudheen A of the Meteors managed to gather more than 10 individual points during the game.

As far as Angamuthu is concerned, an impressive 19 of his 22 points came from his attacking prowess alone while three were added from blocks. In all, he put on an all-round performance as he troubled Mumbai Meteors’ defence from almost every position.

Interestingly enough, his efforts while blocking were as perfect as anything, with Angamuthu managing 100 percent efficiency in the department. In attack, however, the lanky universal did make eight errors which took his efficiency down to 27.50 percent.

Either way, Angamuthu Ramaswamy was arguably the key to Ahmedabad Defenders’ glory, especially in the fourth set where he earned his team a super point. If not for the 28-year-old, Ahmedabad would have struggled and this can be understood by how close the margins were in the game.
