Ahmedabad Defenders booked a date in the final of the RuPay Prime Volleyball League Powered by A23 Season 2 by beating Calicut Heroes 3-1 (17-15, 9-15, 17-15, 15-11) in the semi-final clash on Saturday, March 4.
For the second time this season, Ahmedabad got the better of Calicut Heroes. The teams had crossed paths during the league stage and the former had come out on top in a rather one-sided affair.
This time around, however, the only difference was Angamuthu Ramaswamy, who outscored his teammate Danial Moatazedi to be named the RuPay Player of the Match.
“I'm feeling so happy right now and I cannot express anything in words,” said a joyful Ramaswamy after the game. At the same time, he did mention that his team is aware of the form Bengaluru Torpedoes are in at the moment and assured that the fans can expect an exciting contest on Sunday.
“They (Bengaluru Torpedoes) are playing like champions. They are a good team so you can expect a good match tomorrow,” added the 28-year-old.
Against Calicut Heroes, Angamuthu was simply unplayable as he ended his night with an impressive 13 points; 11 of which came in the attack while one was tallied in blocking and serving each.
The 28-year-old had an efficiency of 31.82 percent in the attack and as one can suspect, while his attacking was excellent, his combination play with Moatazedi was commendable as well.
Come Sunday, Ahmedabad’s universal will want to replicate this form against an opponent that has won four of their last five games. This includes wins over Kolkata Thunderbolts and even Calicut Heroes.
